The videos and links in this blog are designed to help you and your Greyhound with the settling in period.

When adopting a retired Greyhound from us here at Barley Greyhound Sanctuary your Greyhound will come home with a fishtail collar & lead (for walks), a house collar (for the id tag) , a muzzle, 4 weeks free Petplan insurance, an information pack and a lifetime of support and back up. All our Greyhounds are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and up to date with flea/worming treatment . We also have a variety of Greyhound coats and bowls / bowl stands available.

Retired Greyhounds make the most amazing and loving pets but they are a unique breed so we hope the information in this blog helps you on your adoption journey.

If you’re adopting from another adoption group speak with them about what your Greyhound will come home with so you can get all the other things you need ready for their arrival.

Preparing for the first day at home.

It’s extremely important to ensure you have a firm grip of your dog before opening the boot or door of your car to prevent them from jumping straight out and bolting away from you. Sadly many dogs go missing soon after adoption as they escape from the car because they aren’t being held securely when the door is opened. Please watch the video below.
