Greyhounds and wood/laminate flooring

Greyhounds and the dangers wood/laminate flooring.

Many Greyhounds can really struggle with walking on wood / laminate floors and if they slip it can sometimes cause quite serious injury. If they do slip, even just the once, they will often not want to walk on, or feel confident enough to walk on the floor again which can result in quite an unhappy and worried hound.

The simplist way to solve this problem is with rubber backed mats (like pictured below). Rubber backed mats / rugs are the best option as normal rugs without rubber can still slip.

We advise our adopters to invest in some of these mats before they take their dogs home to prevent problems / injury to their newly adopted hounds. Some Greyhounds can be fine on the wooden floors for many years then one day slip and suddenly become wary of the floor so mats from the start are the easiest way to prevent this happening.

You can find rubber backed mats from various places but Amazon usually have lots of different sizes/colours available with fast delivery.
