Choosing your Greyhounds wardrobe / Pyjamas

Most Greyhounds will need a warm coat, especially for winter walks or rainy days. The video at the bottom of this blog from Jill at JW Canine care explains the different coats you can get in more detail.

Your Greyhound may also need ‘pyjamas’ overnight in winter months. We see lots of adopters asking for advice as their Greyhounds have suddenly started waking/weeing/pooing in the night during the colder months. This behaviour change can often be due to the drop in temperature and a thin coat (pyjamas) can usually solve the problem instantly. A lightweight fleece with velcro belly strap usually works well and are easy to get on/off. Obviously not all dogs like to wear a coat and some don't feel the cold so do what's best for your individual dog. You can offer extra blankets instead if that works better for you/your hound and there are some really good snuggle beds out there too.

While the drop in temperature can often be the reason for dogs suddenly changing their behaviour at night during winter months it is best keep an eye on them and if keeping them warm doesn't help then look into other possibilities, like a UTI, disturbance from animals outside, a change in feeding/routine etc.
